Hi all - just saw that S&S was the #43 seller for 1997 at CD Now. They
finished above some big names (Aerosmith etc), now I wonder hom many
cd's that CD Now actually sold of S&S (and out of those how many were
from listmembers). Just wanted to pass on the info.

THE SUNDAYS
Static & Silence

Apparently band mainstays David Gavurin and singer Harriet Wheeler have
spent the last four years since the release of their second album, the
much-slated Blind, constructing a home studio and making babies. On the
evidence of Static & Silence this time around they've decided to stick
to what they know: aching heartfelt vocals, backed by swoonsome
melodies.

If anything, they've become even more delicate in their old age. Only
on the first single off the album, "Summertime" (on which guitarist
Gavurin plays a wah-wah figure of remarkable tenderness) and "Another
Flavour" do the band display anything even resembling rock credentials;
the rest of is a collection of songs in the minor key of life - a very
good collection, mind [you]. Strings abound on tracks like "She" and
Gavurin is always the soul of discretion, alternating between a clean,
country-tinged electric sound and lyrical acoustic work. Static &
Silence never reaches the heights of The Sundays' delicious Reading,
Writing and Arithmetic debut, but it's still a sumptuous record to
wallow in when your skies are grey.

(Three out of five stars)

Stop by http://stevepanhorst.dyn.ml.org/ if you are interested in viewing
some Sundays images. It is a collection of everything I've been able to
find on other web sites, with a few scans of my own. The site is on a
personal web server, so if you get no response, just try later...

Take care!

i just spent the last few hours setting up an
"arithmetic calendar of events" for 1998.
on the calendar, i set up dates for prospective
chat events.

my rationale for picking sundays at 1:00 PM:
*Arithmetics in Australia can make it if they wake at 7:00 AM.
*Arithmetics in the UK can make it if they are up at 9:00 PM.
*Um... we're talking about The SUNDAYS.

Of course, nothing is set in stone. This is just
something for to start with.
