I just wanted to note to the record completists that I found just the other day a three track CD released by Geffen which contained the songs "Here's Where The Story Ends", "Love", and "Wild Horses". This was released in 1997 and included a note to look for the new upcoming single "Summertime". I assume this was a promo sent to radio stations to get them ready/excited about the new releases. I have not seen this item on any Sundays discography online. <>- Jeff -<> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tour Dates & Info ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Cynthia C Y Tsao Subject: The SUNDAYS Update: March 1998 Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 03:30:27 -0800 (PST) Greetings fellow Arithmeticians, I had finals last week and am currently in the throes of a restful Spring Break. Since I am going to Yosemite tomorrow for a bit, I decided to try again to get a hold of The SUNDAYS' management group. Darren and I have talked briefly during the past few months, but there was nothing really up, and I primarily focused on helping him understand what Arithmetic was all about so he doesn't think that we're a bunch of freaks. *grin* Well, there is nothing solid for us to get all hyped about, but this is what I have learned from Darren so far: 1. The SUNDAYS have completed their "campaign" in England and America for Static & Silence. 2. Currently, The SUNDAYS are debating whether or not to tour again THIS SUMMER. 3. Regardless, the production of the NEXT ALBUM will most likely NOT take as long as Static & Silence did. 4. The single release of When I'm Thinking About You WAS slated for March 1998. This is no longer the case. Plans for releasing this single are indefinite. Obviously, my usage of CAPS actually do indicate a slight tinge of excitement here and there as these tidbits offer new hope for more songs and more shows to attend. Upon hearing about WITAY's delay, I promptly asked why they did not consider releasing Another Flavour first (at least in the United States for those of us who consider the tune newer than our UK kin who had the priviledge of hearing it much earlier on the Newman & Baddiel show), get considerable airplay with Another Flavour, and then follow up with WITAY. I tried to come up with an example... "Look. Sarah McLachlan. Building a Mystery, Sweet Surrender = happenin' tunes. Lotsa airplay. Now, she releases Adia = the ballad. Good idea, right?" To which Darren thought about it for a bit, and said "Hmmm... I'll bring it up with Harriet and David." I realize some of you don't like Another Flavour, but you hafta admit, it's a song that has more potential in getting airplay in the States than most of the other songs on Static & Silence. In closing, I'll reiterate that many issues (e.g. touring, single releases) are still being discussed by the band with their management as we speak. I'll be giving Darren a call in a few weeks to see if there are any updates on the status of The SUNDAYS. Arithmetically yours, :) Cynthia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Interviews & Reviews ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 14:54:35 -0500 From: Babak Esfandiari Subject: on promotion, motivation, ... I've seen full page color ads in Mojo and Les Inrockuptibles for S&S. I've seen a short video promotion on MuchMusic. To me this is a sign that Geffen is supportive of the Sundays. It doesn't mean that their strategy for promoting the Sundays is the good one, but the will is there for sure. Analytically in love with Harriet, Babak. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Jeffweb22 Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 17:25:22 EST Subject: Re: on promotion, motivation, ... There was also a full page ad in Tower's Pulse! magazine (I clipped it). It read: "On their long awaited new release, The Sundays deliver more 'blissful...otherworldly.. brilliance' [Spin]. Lushly atmospheric arrangements, mesmerizing vocals and melodies that gleam make _Static & Silence_ a jewel in The Sunday's trinity of releases." My site! :) although it's not as it used to be, it's very much under construction... It's kind of a temp. site until I get some time to design it the way I'd like to. check it out at: http://campi.ml.org/~vguy then bookmark it, cause it's updated very frequently. :) thanks, Andrew ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 10:42:06 -0500 From: Babak Esfandiari Subject: Re: wanted:lyrics There has been an update on the following beautiful Sundays Web Site: http://www.ifb.co.uk/~pingu/sundays.htm Babak. PS: Relax, John ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 02:09:10 -0500 From: Dawson Subject: The VERY FIRST Sundays MIDI!!!! Sequenced by yours truly..... Yo, Skip here from the RAPMETAL BAND Downside (that was going out to the wonderful girl who thinks I am not a true fan because I also play in a band like this. haven't heard from her in a while, just thought I'd throw that in..... Well, I have the program Cakewalk 6.0... it's a kick-ass sequencer. I also have a lame radio shack keyboard but it has MIDI Capability so it's not that bad. I started at 11pm.... learned the vocal melody on my piano, and off I went... it's now 2am, the song is complete, and I am extremely happy with the final turnout. I have searched ALL OVER the web for Sundays MIDI's.... and I have not found one. I sequenced the song Here's Where the Story Ends (cause it's my fave, well actually they're all my fave but....) I think it sounds damn good. You can snag it (but PLEASE g ive me credit if you put it on your page, cause it was a bitch to sequence: my keyboard kept cutting out and stuff...... but anyway.... here it is, on my Sundays dedication page. Please take a listen!!!! I promise you all I will eventually get to seque ncing about 10 Sundays songs.... including, God Made Me, Summertime, I Kicked A Boy, I Won, Can't Be Sure and A Certain Someone.... I'm going to sequence all of them.... give me time, and always keep checking my Sundays site. ;-) http://groove.simplenet.com/me/sundays.htm love to all fans of Paul, Patrick, David and of course HARRIET, Skippy from Downside South Florida ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 22:51:28 +0000 From: Colin Shaw/Zoe Diamandopoulos Subject: tin tin out Howdy folks, seeing as no one else seems to have mentioned it, I just thought I would let the list know that tin tin out's cover of hwtse entered the UK singles chart at no. 7. That's a good 8 places higher than our favourites have ever managed. There's obviously no justice in the world. Although I have to admit that I did contribute to those sales (well I'm completist, and it's still a good song even if it's no where near touching the original). But I still think it would have been a lot better if they kept the original vocals. After all it would be nice to have a real sundays remix. cheers, Colin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: "Ryan Obermeyer" Date: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 10:09:42 PST Sender: lanminds.com!owner-arithmetic I have a vinyl of the Goodbye single which is autographed by the entire band.
